Cars and Air Conditioners – Does Using an Air Conditioner in Town Makes You Pay Extra Money on Gas?

Your car’s air conditioner may increase the load on your engine. Hence you car will burn more fuel if your air conditioner is kept on. However this may not apply to long term journeys. In fact here you may save money by letting your air conditioner on and closing your car’s windows.

But what is the case when you go for short term journeys or drive in the town? In this case your air conditioner will be a load on your engine and will make your car burn more gas. You can however develop the appropriate habits that can help you save money on gas that was previously consumed by your air conditioner.

Ever got in the car to go to the store and turned the AC on? 10 minutes’ drive gets you to the destination and then you are in the store for an hour. Then you again turn the AC on when you get back in the car and drive home.

The AC probably wasn’t even able to cool the car properly within such a short period.

By the time you get back the temperature has risen again and the cooling has to start all over again. So the energy used to run the AC was basically wasted.

You never gained enough speed in those 10 minutes within the city traffic for the drag factor to have mattered much and the weather outside was not bad enough to really need the air conditioning.

The whole waste can be avoided if you understand the common sense behind the use of air conditioning and the simple act of rolling down the windows.

AC/DC Tickets - Rocking on Dirty Deeds: A Comparative Critique

AC/DC didn't make many people stop and ponder life's questions when they were rocking in their heyday. And you can probably assume that with their current tour they're sticking to their guns, playing a lot of the old stuff and running with the familiar themes. While you can point to a number of lyrical subjects in their songwriting, one that sticks out above the rest is rocking. Chasing women and getting inebriated are both very common themes, but based purely on the amount of songs with the word "rock" in the title ("There's Gonna Be Some Rockin'," "Rocker" "It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Want to Rock and Roll)," "Rock n' Roll Singer," "Let There Be Rock," "Rock n' Roll Damnation," "'Rock n' Roll Aint No Noise Pollution," "For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)," etc.), you can imagine these guys were very serious about being rockers, rocking and basic rock n' roll things.

Therefore, it's not uncommon that the average AC/DC tickets buyer will try to ponder the question: What AC/DC song rocks the hardest? That kind of study would take a whole novel. For the purpose of narrowing down some of the parameters of the debate, we'll focus on two classic songs about rocking from AC/DC's Dity Deeds Done Dirt Cheap album, "There's Gonna Be Some Rockin'" and "Rocker." Let's take a look at the lyrics.

THERE'S GONNA BE SOME ROCKIN'

"Well me and the boys are out to have some fun/ Gonna put on a show - Come on lets go/ There's gonna be some rockin'/ There's gonna be some rockin'/ There's gonna be some rockin' at the show tonight./ Every night there's a rock 'n' roll Queen/ Gonna quiver and quake/ Gonna shake her thing/ There's gonna be some rockin'/ We got a big fat sound/ Wanna share it round/ Got a big bass drum/ Gonna have some fun/ There's gonna be some rockin'"

ROCKER

"I'm a rocker/I'm a roller/I'm a right out of controller/ I'm a wheeler/I'm a dealer/ I'm a wicked woman stealer/I'm a bruiser/ I'm a cruiser/I'm a rockin' rollin' man./ Got slicked back hair/Skin tight jeans/ Cadillac car/ And a teenage dream./I'm a rocker/ I'm a roller/ A rockin' rollin' man/ Got lorex socks/ Blue suede shoes/ V8 car/ And tattoos/ I'm a rocker/ I'm a roller/ A rockin' rollin' man"

The similarities between these song lyrics are too numerous to name, but when you see them side by side you can notice some subtle differences in rock philosophy. "There's Gonna Be Some Rockin'" describes an even that will, if AC/DC can help it, rock in the foreseeable future, whereas "Rocker" describes a person ("I" not "We") who has already achieved the status of "rocker" (as well as "roller"). First person narration is the most obvious difference, but also the least meaningful.

If we're here to discover what rocking is, then we need to look at the rock each song seeks to relate to the audience. That said, the major difference seems to be a matter of superficiality. "There's Gonna Be Some Rockin'" is a vastly superior AC/DC rock song because the rocker it describes is a doer. He's going to have some fun, include others, share it round, quiver, quake, put on a show. He gets after it and makes rock happen. In contrast, "Rocker" seems to portray a man who rocks simply because of his many possessions- a fast car, tattoos, women, tight jeans, lorex sox (what are those anyways?).

So you have to ask yourself, are you a rocker because you have the gear, or are you a rocker 'cause you take the wheel and steer? Do you necessarily rock because of the things you own, or because of the lifestyle you lead? Actions rock much louder than possessions.

Get That Ultimate Gm Experience With Gm Ac Condenser and Exhaust System

General Motors is using advanced technology to make vehicles with improved fuel economy and lower emissions than typical internal combustion vehicles. GM believes that these advanced technologies will give GM customers better performing vehicles.

Every GM vehicle is equipped with everything that one needs in a car. Convenience is one factor that is always present in all GM vehicles and one of the most important parts that contribute to convenience is the air conditioning system.

The air conditioning system has several components that need proper attention to perform well. One of these parts is the AC condenser. The GM AC condenser is often mistaken as the radiator because it looks alike and performs almost similar functions. The radiator cools off the coolant mixture, thus, dissipating the heat produced by the engine while the GM AC condenser dissipates heat coming from the car’s interior. The GM AC Condenser dissipates the heat absorbed by the gaseous refrigerants and converts it back to cool liquid. In the process, all of the heat absorbed by the refrigerant inside the vehicle is released by the condenser and then transforms the refrigerant once more into a cool liquid, which will again circulate through the compartment of the vehicle to absorb more heat. The AC condenser has two AC condenser hoses coming form either end of unit.

In order to radiate heat, the GM AC condenser must have good airflow. In rear wheel drive vehicles, air flow comes from the engine’s cooling fan while in front wheel drives, air flow comes from one or more cooling fans. The condenser is located just in front of the radiator. In some vehicles, however, the condenser is located somewhere else for aerodynamic reasons. If the GM AC condenser becomes damaged, the heat remains inside the car.

Collisions, small pieces of stones and gravel that may come through the grille and penetrate one of the high-pressure coils can be the most common causes damage to the GM AC condenser. If already damaged, it must be replaced immediately to avoid further inconvenience.

Long Comforting Ride Made Possible by Long Comforting Ride Made Possible by Ac Compressors

Saturn vehicles boast of having the latest innovations in the automotive industry, thus making them one comfortable ride. Drivers owning a Saturn vehicle have been more than proud of the comforting features and amenities contained in the car. As Saturn Corporation is a division of the worldwide known General Motors (GM), there would be of no doubt that these cars are indeed fed with only the latest in the automotive world. This company was established in 1985 but GM began the manufacture of Saturn vehicles in 1990. Since then, they were known to be a vehicle of comfort, and they continue to establish that reputation.

Their hard-earned reputation was through their efforts of continuously improving the parts they install in their cars. They are aware that each part should coordinate well with others so that a really comforting ride will be possible. One faulty part and it's already goodbye to the recognition they so well enjoyed through the years.

Among the parts that they put much effort on is their Saturn AC Compressor. As all know, AC compressors are subject to aggravating heat and pressure to cool down the refrigerant and vent out cool air. Thus, anyone could conclude that this has the major responsibility of maintaining the cool air inside the vehicle. However, because of its function, there's a necessity for a Saturn AC Compressors (and other AC Compressor makes for that matter) to be regularly checked. With this, the functions of other AC components won't be compromised. With this routine checkup, Saturn AC Compressor problems that may soon arise could be prevented and thus, drivers and passengers could feel a comforting ride for a much longer time.

Elegance from the outside is nothing when discomfort could be felt during a ride in the car – this is what Saturn Corporation believes in and so they make sure that their Saturn AC Compressor will not easily fail their customers. They make it to last up to the longest time possible, and this was how Saturn Corporation earned the recognition they so deserve. Comfort from the inside and elegance from the outside – this is a trademark undoubtedly identified with Saturn vehicles.

Lazy Man's Car Maintenance

I am man - watch me be lazy! Hey, you bust your hind quarters all week to make enough money to pay the bills. Who wants to spend their weekend under a car checking hoses and such? Allow me to introduce you to the lazy man's car maintenance guide.

Let's get the disclaimer out of the way. Your car needs proactive maintenance and there is no getting around this fact. It will need the tires rotated. It will need the oil changed. It will need the radiator flushed and so on and so on. You can take it in to the local lube and tune place to get these things taken care of. In this article, we are looking at things you can do with an absolute minimum of fuss. How minimum? Well, let's start with the absolutely easiest of checks - ones you are already doing.

Trust your senses! When you are driving, you are doing a diagnostic check of your car whether you realize it or not. You feel things through the seat and steering wheel. You certainly hear things and you can see things as well. Ask yourself if the car seems to be running normally? If not, then it needs to go to the mechanic.

Let's look at some common things your senses will tell you. Do you feel a rhythm or small shaking through the steering wheel when driving at higher speeds? If yes, then your tires are out of balance. Save them and your suspension by getting them rebalanced

Does your car seem sluggish when you take off from a light or stop sign? If so, the primary cause is low tire pressure in your front tires. When was the last time you checked them? They should be looked at once a month. Go fill them up at the gas station or have them done at the tire shop and get your tires rotated as well.

Does your car seem to have a hump in the drive? Tires again! This time, it means your back tires are underinflated. Back to the gas station and/or tire store!

The next time you park your car, get out and walk about 10 feet behind it. Now take a look at the rear tires. How does the tread look? Is it wearing more to the inside or outside? If so, you alignment is probably in need of adjustment. Do your tires lean in or out? You'll need to get that worked on as well.

Okay, now the hard part for the lazy man. The next time you go home, walk in the house and find a towel or old t-shirt you can sacrifice. Now head back out and pop the hood. Locate the dipstick for your car. Pull it out and lay the oil covered in on the material. If there is no oil, GET SOME! Assuming there is some, check to see if the stain on the cloth falls within the tow marks on the dip stick. As long as it is between them, you are okay.

Now how hard was that? Your car needs basic maintenance as called out in your owner's manual. That's the dusty book in your glove compartment. In the meantime, the lazy man's car maintenance routine should help you avoid any catastrophic problems.

Fiber Optic Borescopes and Video Scopes - Auto Technicians Save Time

Fiber optic borescopes or fiber-scopes have been the preferred method used to look inside car engines through spark plug holes to inspect for valve damage after a timing belt breaks. The wand allows auto repair technicians inspect valves for damage without pulling the cylinder head. Fiber optic borescopes can be a little cumbersome to use, since the eyepiece has to be a certain distance from the eye and adjusting the focus can also be a bit tricky. Be that as it may after the user gets used to how to use a fiberscope much time is saved and many more uses are discovered for this tool saving the technician even more time and money.

Video Based Inspection Scopes

Video based inspection scopes have came along way in in recent years, design improvements and prices coming down have allowed video based scopes to provide a feasible alternative to fiber optic bore scopes. The Visual Optics inspection scope allows ease of use with automatic focusing and there is no awkward eyepiece to deal with. The Visual Optics Video Stik has a 2.5" color screen that makes viewing the subject very easy and also allows more than one person to view it at the same time unlike a fiber optic borescope with a tiny eyepiece. The Visual Optics Scope is also surprisingly enough, built in the USA!

Uses of the Video Inspection Scope

Auto technicians as mentioned before, have used this type of inspection method for sometime now. But now other industries are using the Video Stik to inspect things like boats (inside hulls) and houses (inside walls). Inspection for impact damage, plumbing, insects, presence of insulation, pipes or wiring in walls can be carried out easily. There is also an optional accessory called the Video Grabber, that can be used to capture the video onto a PC (Personal Computer). The video file can then be shared with the client showing before and after work is performed. Until now this ability was restricted to much more expensive video inspection scopes that could range into thousands of dollars.

Video Stik Features

  1. 2 1/2" color screen for easy viewing.
  2. Available in 36" or 72" wands for the reach needed.
  3. Water resistant camera at the end of the wand.
  4. Magnet and mirror attachments included for increased function.
  5. Foam lined carrying case for safe storage and transporting to jobs.
  6. Optional Video Grabber that allows capturing and sharing video files.
  7. Small enough camera that fits into a spark plug hole!
  8. Uses common AA alkaline batteries.
  9. Automatic focus is easy enough for a child to use.
  10. Made in the United States.

See the Visual Optics Inspection Scope with a short video in the lower part of the description.
