Honda’s Growing Sales in China

Honda (producer of quality Acura CL AC compressor) has recently increased its sales in China by 36 percent last month attributed to the growing popularity of the Civic and the Accord cars.





Japan’s second largest carmaker was able to sell 46,226 cars in China for November this year basing on the e-mailed statement by the company. For the first 11 months of this year the company was able to sell 378,602 units an increase of 32 percent.





Because of the favorable response that Honda vehicles have been getting, the automaker is considering increasing further its sale sin China especially now that the Accord sedan is included in the best-selling models in the country.





The total car sales in China have increased by 17 percent in November attributed to the economic growth boosted further by consumer wealth.





Last month the sales at Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co. that produces the Civic and CR-V sport utility vehicles have rose by 81 percent to 13,826 while Guangzhou Honda Automobile Co. that makes the Accord sedans and Fit subcompacts have increased sales by 23 percent to 32,400 units that is according to the company.





The sales figures reported only pertains to the locally produced Honda vehicles in China and does not yet include the imported models such as the Acura luxury sedan and the Civic hybrid.





Aside from the increasing sales that Honda is obtaining in China, its Honda CR-V was also named as the “2008 SUV of the Year in China” by a Chinese auto magazine called Motortrend.





The refurbished CR-V that hit the Chinese market in April this year was chosen by Motortrend’s evaluation team comprising of industry experts. The evaluation team spent one-month-and-a-half to cover ten important aspects ranging from safety to design then to road test.





Luckily for the CR-V it has obtained the highest rating among three other candidates that include the Chery Tiggo, Great Wall Hover and Hyundai Tucson. All of the models tested are spacious five-passenger crossover SUVs with handling like a sedan.





For the month of November, the CR-V has dethroned the Great Wall Hover from the best seller in Chinese SUV market. The November sales of the top five best selling SUV models in the Chinese market:





• Honda CR-V – 5554 units


• Chery Tiggo – 5257 units


• Great Wall Hover – 4479 units


• Hyundai Tuscon – 3990 units


• Changfeng Liebao – 2285 units





These five models are accounted for 59 percent of the total SUV market.





For the first 11 months of this year a total of 339,800 SUVs were sold in the Chinese market an increase by 60.3 percent from the previous year. the growth in the SUV segment is much faster as compared to the other segments like minivans and sedans.

There have been prominent upgrades on the Dodge Viper for 2008. Included is its 600 horse power, leaving a great difference from antecedent 90 horse power. Even the torque has been bumped up to 560 lb/ft from 25 lb/ft of the previous. Its displacement has also gained improvement reaching 8.4 liters. According to a source, “The new vehicle will boast better flowing heads with bigger valves, as well as variable valve timing on the dual throttle bodies and the exhaust cam.”





There were minimal changes made in the outside of the power plant. However, Ricardo Consulting Engineers along with McLaren Cars managed to make the little changes more significant.





Tremec TR6060 has replaced the classic T56 transmission of the Dodge Viper. Together with a revised shifter, there has been a twenty percent improvement in the shift speed when compared to the Chevrolet Corvette Z06.





A GKNVisco differential has taken oven the Dana M44-4 rear axle that was on the 2003 model of the Dodge Viper SRT10. With its aid, there will be an easier grip on the tires when they are under acceleration.

A car’s air conditioning system functions to provide cool air to the interior of a car during hot, summer months. Having an air conditioning system makes a rather unpleasant summer drive more comfortable and bearable. The transfer of hot air and cool air, a process called air conditioning, occurs as a closed loop exchange system involving the ac compressor, ac condenser, ac receiver drier, expansion valve and evaporator.





The ac compressor compresses cool, low – pressure refrigerant liquid into hot, high – pressure refrigerant gas. The refrigerant gas moves onto the condenser where heat from the refrigerant gas is absorbed. Once heat is absorbed, the refrigerant gas is “condensed” into refrigerant liquid. The refrigerant liquid then passes onto the ac receiver drier. The ac receiver drier plays a vital role in the ac system, but more on that later. After the ac receiver drier, the refrigerant liquid passes through the expansion valve where liquid refrigerant is converted into refrigerant gas (again). After this, the refrigerant gas moves on to the evaporator. A fan located inside the evaporator blows the refrigerant gas onto the air conditioning vents located inside the car. Once the refrigerant gas enters the car’s interior, the heat from the air within the car is absorbed. The end result is a cooler and more comfortable air for the occupants of the car.





Notice that the description about the ac receiver drier has been left out in the first paragraph. It is fitting that another paragraph be dedicated to this important component of the air conditioning system. The ac receiver drier does the job of filtering out contaminants and absorbing moisture from the refrigerant liquid. By doing so it protects the other areas in the air conditioning system from being contaminated with dust, dirt or moisture. The ac receiver drier looks like a radiator overflow tank and is often a cylindrical contraption with a small window in it. The small window in the ac receiver drier allows one to check the AC status. When the air conditioning system is working, one should be able to see clear liquid inside the ac receiver drier. If the liquid is milky, then there is water in the system. If the liquid has bubbles, then there is a presence of air in the system. When this happens, the car’s air conditioning system must soon be checked by a qualified mechanic. Chances are the ac receiver drier needs some replacing.
